What is the location plan feature?

The location plan feature is a new element of the Planning Portal’s online application service. It will allow applicants to easily draw the application site’s red line boundary on a map, after finding the site address using the postcode search (or the location by entering a grid reference). Creating the site boundary will generate a location plan to support your planning application, once submitted you can access a PDF of the location plan you have created.

This new feature can be used as an alternative to purchasing a location plan elsewhere, offering an easy, integrated solution. Due to the built-in compliance check and use of Ordnance Survey data, it will help reduce the likelihood of providing an invalid location plan.
