Embodied carbon
How to reduce embodied carbon
Embodied carbon can be reduced at all stages of a building’s life. Reduction could be prior to construction, while the building is being used or at the end of its life. For this reason, it is important to:
- Use green transport methods to transport materials
- Minimise waste within the construction process
- Focus on reusing and recycling materials
- Futureproof the building in the design process, allowing for different uses if required
- Base construction off local raw materials
- Use low emission, energy efficient processes.
