What is the service charge for submitting a building control application?

Just as with planning, building control is complex and ever-changing. We know how important it is to our customers that we lead on the digital transformation of service delivery to meet their demands for a combined planning and building control application system.

The digital transformation of building control has not necessarily kept pace with other services, and we are using our 20 years of experience in establishing a national standard for planning applications and extending this expertise to building control. We know building control will benefit from the digital enhancements, as has planning, where these services are intrinsically linked.

Listening and acting on this feedback, we have significantly invested to improve building control submission and do not receive public funding. We need to recover this investment and are therefore applying a modest service charge of £21 to applicants (introductory discounted rate). This fee contributes to ongoing platform enhancements and development, supporting the evolving needs of all users and the industry.

We want to facilitate as much engagement with the new system as possible following its initial launch, giving us maximum opportunity to collect feedback on how it works, helping us to tailor and develop the service and respond to issues quickly for everyone.
